Applied to the back edge of granulator knife blades, Extreme Coatings tungsten carbide will extend the time between blade sharpening and increase overall blade life.
A processor that specializes in recycling trash cans, which contain a high percentage fill of calcium carbonate, was accustomed to resharpening his standard knife blades weekly. Worn blades were replaced every four weeks.
Standard knife blades were coated using Extreme Coatings XC1000 tungsten carbide material. The gain in wear life and the re-sharpening interval was significant. Blades are now resharpened every five weeks versus weekly before, and worn blades are replaced at 14 weeks (3-1/2 months) instead of every four weeks.
